Jess Dyrdahl grew up in West Fargo, ND and moved to Fort Collins in 2002 to pursue degrees in Political Science and Spanish at Colorado State University.
Jess received her graduate degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Indiana University. She has worked for the University of Alaska Anchorage, Northeastern University in Dublin, Ireland and is happy to be working for her alma mater, Colorado State University. Jess is the Assistant Director for Student Government and works directly everyday with students who are making positive changes on campus and in the Fort Collins Community.
Jess has worked in the service industry as well the past two decades and most recently worked for Horse and Dragon Brewery. She appreciates what the brewery industry contributes to the community and especially the Horse & Dragon family.
Jess has taught leadership courses for 10+ years and is a certified StrengthsQuest Facilitator. She has lead workshops on a variety of topics from teamwork and collaboration; diversity, equity and inclusion; and communication.
Jess takes immense pride in being a resident of the Fort Collins community and of District 4.
Jess has volunteered in the Fort Collins community in a variety of aspects from long term volunteering to one time events. She facilitated workshops at the Larimer County Jail, has filled a variety of roles at the Larimer County Food Bank, and enjoys giving back time at events like Taste of Fort Collins, FoCoMx or the Colorado Brewer's Festival.
Jess became a member of Leadership Fort Collins in 2016 and has been on the Steering Committee for Leadership Fort Collins since 2017. She loves being able to learn about the amazing aspects of our city and connecting with leaders from all over the community. She serves on the Administrative Professionals Council at CSU and also the Parking Services Committee. Jess brought together other student government advisors and student leaders from across the region together in 2019 to organize the first Colorado/Wyoming Student Government Regional Conference and has enjoyed facilitating meetings for the group since summer 2019.
Coming from North Dakota, Jess appreciates the 300+ days of sunshine the Fort Collins community enjoys each year and our surrounding areas.
She enjoys hiking the trails in and around Lory State Park, driving her family's 1972 Crestliner on Horsetooth Reservoir and biking on Spring Creek Trail on her way to work. She is also an avid snowboarder but not quite ready to participate in the X Games:)
One of Jess' passion areas is learning about other cultures and this area of interest has taken her to all 50 states and to 50 countries. She has lived abroad in both Alcala de Henares, Spain and Dublin, Ireland.
Connecting with people from different backgrounds, perspectives and identities is important to Jess as we all have a story to tell. She takes it a step further by connecting people with each other (she has successfully introduced more than 5 couples to their partners), connecting people to resources and hopefully inspire others to give back to their community.
